  • Contributing writer for SFGate’s newly launched Los Angeles vertical, covering cultural happenings and cultural phenomena in Southern California.

  • Oversaw the paper’s online and print coverage of visual and performing arts, classical music, and architecture.

  • Led a team of seven writers and reporters.

  • Assigned and edited news stories, criticism and features about timely happenings in the arts in Southern California.

  • Edited the popular Essential Arts newsletter, sent to over 67,000 subscribers, and the new L.A. Goes Out newsletter. 

  • Conceptualized and executed an editorial package about the Hollywood Bowl’s impact on the history, culture, and future of Los Angeles with features, interviews, and interactive elements in June 2022, and edited a series of stories about how artificial intelligence is changing art.

  • Wrote pop culture features, including a piece on the Succession season three finale scene that was likened to a Renaissance painting and how a silly shirt from Netflix’s I Think You Should Leave became an evergreen meme.

  • Edited three features that won first place at the LA Press Club’s Southern California Journalism Awards in 2022.

SENIOR EDITOR, TEXAS MONTHLY | JULY 2019–OCTOBER 2021

  • Senior editor who led the acclaimed monthly magazine’s culture vertical online and in print.

  • Conceptualized, commissioned, and edited several front of book and longform stories for the monthly print magazine, including a feature story about Richard Linklater’s role in the development of the Texas film industry and a 2021 cover story package about Selena Quintanilla’s legacy that was nominated for an ASME Award.

  • Edited between five and ten features, news stories, and personal essays weekly, from staff and freelance writers alike, that consistently helped lead web traffic. Wrote features for the magazine, including a profile of the skateboarder Jordan Santana and a piece for the Willie Nelson special issue.

DIGITAL PRODUCER, GOTHAMIST/NEW YORK PUBLIC RADIO | JANUARY 2019–JULY 2020

  • Wrote news stories and longform features daily centered around culture, arts, and food as a reporter for Gothamist, New York Public Radio’s local journalism arm.

  • Recorded audio pieces for stories that aired on WNYC radio newscasts and appeared as a regular guest on Alison Stewart’s live talk show All Of It.

  • Broke stories about a high-rise development creeping into James Turrell’s Skyspace art piece at MoMA PS1 and how New York City’s oft-told pizza origin story is likely false. 

ASSOCIATE EDITOR, ATLAS OBSCURA | AUGUST 2017–NOVEMBER 2018

  • Co-edited and helped launch Atlas Obscura’s food and drink vertical, Gastro Obscura, in November 2017.

  • Assigned and edited four feature stories weekly, predominantly by outside freelance writers.

  • Assisted in commissioning, writing, and editing food and drink stories for the Gastro book published in 2021.

  • Wrote the biweekly Gastro Obscura newsletter, and helped grow the reader base to 190,000+ subscribers. 

ASSOCIATE EDITOR, NPR MUSIC | APRIL 2017–AUGUST 2017

  • Assisted in co-founding and conceptualizing Turning the Tables, the Gracie Award-winning project about building a musical canon of works by women and non-binary people. Worked with NPR editors to conceptualize the project, commission, and edit both entries and features from over 50 NPR staffers, station members, and freelancers.

  • Contributed to the second season of Turning the Tables, released July 2018.

CONTRIBUTING WRITER/EDITOR AND PRODUCER, RED BULL MUSIC ACADEMY | MARCH 2016–AUGUST 2017

  • Commissioned and edited pieces for Red Bull Music Academy's immersive online culture publication, the Daily, tied to events in New York City, Montréal, and beyond.

  • Produced special segments for Vivian Host’s weekly program, The Vortex, on Red Bull Radio.

  • Hosted on air interviews with artists at the New York studio, and at the Basilica SoundScape festival in Hudson, NY.

  • Pitched, reported, and wrote daily web and longer print features about culture, technology, marketing, and media that frequently landed within the top web stories every month.

  • Wrote 20+ timely features about forthcoming films and interactive/VR film experiences at the 2015 and 2016 Sundance Film Festivals.

  • Wrote the liner notes essay for The Criterion Collection's release of The Rose​ (1979).

  • Wrote a book for Bloomsbury Press's 33 1/3 series, about The Jesus and Mary Chain's seminal work Psychocandy, published October 2016.

  • Wrote several scripts for episodes of Wondery’s popular podcast Scamfluencers.
